Clarence J. Stone
Hi, my name is Clarence J. Stone - most of the people I know call me CJ. I am in my 4th year at the University of Michigan studying Communication Studies and Spanish, and if there’s one other thing you should know about me, it’s that I have loved sports as long as I can remember. From the moment I picked up my first ball, was addicted. Even though certain sports (baseball and football) began to be more important than others as I got older, my appreciation for all things athletic never ended. When I graduated high school, I was forced to hang my baseball cleats up due to lack of size, speed and sadly talent. However, I have continued my love of sports by focusing on sports media. I also got the chance to go back to doing something I really enjoyed as a kid – writing. When I was younger, I loved to tell stories and write, but I never got the chance to develop my own style as a writer due to my commitment to playing sports. So when I got to college, I decided that I would find ways to commit myself to being a writer again. Eventually, I found my way to the writing minor. I decided to use this semester to really develop my ability to tell the stories in the world of sports I want to tell. As I wrote throughout the past semester, I realized that the best way to describe my journey as a writer would be the only way I know how to: to tell a story. This is my ePortfolio, in which you will find my work for the semester, which I have dedicated to telling my story as a wanna be sports writer. This is my first serious attempt at writing non-blog sports stories, and I hope you enjoy.
